Questions
Answers to common questions about our organization, our beliefs, and how we serve the evangelical Baptist churches of Québec.
About the Organization
The Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches, Quebec Region
(Groupement d'Églises Baptistes Évangéliques, Région du Québec)
is a voluntary regional association of evangelical Baptist
congregations serving the province of Québec. We exist to
strengthen, resource, and connect member churches in their
shared mission of Gospel proclamation, discipleship, and
community service. Our regional office is located at
255 Viau, Châteauguay, Québec.
The Fellowship has been serving evangelical Baptist churches
in Québec since 1944 — over 80 years of continuous ministry.
Over those decades, the Fellowship has grown from a small
cluster of congregations to a regional fellowship of over
35 member churches serving communities across the province.
The Fellowship operates more as a cooperative association
than a traditional denomination. We are committed to the
autonomy of the local church — each member congregation
governs its own affairs. The Fellowship serves as a
resource, support, and accountability structure rather
than an authoritative hierarchy. We are the Quebec regional
affiliate of FEB Canada (Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist
Churches in Canada).
Yes. The Fellowship is a registered Canadian charitable
organization with the Canada Revenue Agency under the
Business Number (BN) 873216725RR0001. As a registered
charity, our finances are subject to CRA reporting
requirements, and we are committed to full financial
transparency with our member churches and the public.
Yes. The Fellowship serves both Francophone and Anglophone
member churches and conducts its work in both French and
English. Major events offer simultaneous translation, and
ministry resources are developed in both languages wherever
possible. The bilingual nature of our fellowship reflects
the linguistic reality of Québec and our commitment to
reaching all communities in their heart language.
About Our Beliefs
"Evangelical" refers to our conviction that the Gospel
of Jesus Christ — His death for sin, burial, and resurrection
— is the central message of the Christian faith and the
only basis for salvation. We believe in the authority of
Scripture, the necessity of personal faith and new birth,
and the urgency of sharing the Gospel with others.
"Baptist" refers to our church polity and our theological convictions about the church — including believer's baptism by immersion, the autonomy of the local congregation, the priesthood of all believers, and the separation of church and state. Baptists are not a single denomination but a family of churches united by these convictions.

No. Evangelical Baptists practice believer's baptism only —
the baptism of those who have personally confessed faith
in Jesus Christ. Infant baptism is not practised in our
churches. We baptize by immersion as an outward expression
of an inward transformation — a public declaration of
personal faith and identification with the death and
resurrection of Christ.
We hold to the complete inspiration, inerrancy, and
authority of the Bible in its original autographs. We
believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are
the Word of God, written by human authors under the
supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is
the supreme and final authority for all matters of faith
and conduct in the life of the believer and the church.
Membership & Affiliation
A church interested in joining the Fellowship should
contact our regional office to begin a conversation.
Membership requires agreement with the FEBC Statement
of Faith, a demonstrated commitment to evangelical
Baptist convictions and practice, and approval by the
existing member churches through our annual assembly
process. We welcome inquiries from evangelical Baptist
congregations in all regions of Québec.
The Fellowship's primary membership structure is at the
congregational level — churches affiliate, not individuals.
However, individuals are warmly invited to engage with
Fellowship events, access our resources, and connect
with member churches. If you are looking for an evangelical
Baptist church near you, we would be glad to help you
find one. Contact our regional office for a church directory.
The Fellowship currently includes over 35 member
congregations spanning the Quebec region — from Montérégie
and Greater Montréal to Laval, the Laurentians, the
Eastern Townships, Québec City, and beyond. Our churches
vary in size, language, and cultural expression, but
are united in their commitment to evangelical Baptist
faith and practice.
Programs & Events
Most Fellowship events are open to members of any
affiliated church and often to the broader Christian
community. Some specialized events — such as pastoral
training cohorts or the annual assembly — may have
specific eligibility criteria. Details are listed in
each event description. When in doubt, contact our
office — we want to help as many people as possible
benefit from our programs.
Yes. The Fellowship is committed to providing ministry
resources in both French and English. Many of our core
resources have been translated or developed in bilingual

or we may be able to direct you to trusted Francophone
sources.
